Erase rewritable Cd on linux


Method 1
1. Unmount cd/dvd

2. List the available drives using the following command

root@penreturns:~$ cdrecord -scanbus

This shows something like:

scsibus3:
3,0,0    300) ‘HL-DT-ST’ ‘DVDRAM GH22NS70 ‘ ‘EX00’ Removable  CD-ROM
3,1,0    301) *
3,2,0    302) *
3,3,0    303) *
3,4,0    304) *
3,5,0    305) *
3,6,0    306) *
3,7,0    307) *

Note the first 3 numbers (3,0,0 for the first dvd drive)

3. Run the following command from your terminal

root@penreturns:~$ cdrecord dev=0,0,0 blank=all

Enjoy!

 

Method 2

This is very simple just enter the following command in terminal

The command that will do the task is:

cdrecord -v dev=/dev/cdrom blank=fast
